The ID process kick starts at 5:30 pm and will feature a format similar to the Orlando City pro & U23 tryouts. After a short greeting and orientation, the players will be separated into teams for a quick warm up, which will then transition into multiple 11v11 scrimmages. Meanwhile, several directors and coaches will pace the sidelines providing valuable information on how the Development Academy and Florida Premier League operates, and the advantages stemming from such high caliber leagues.

The purpose of the DA and FPL is to comprise the best available talent to compete against one another, consequently serving as a stage for college coaches who are in the midst of their recruiting process.

“This identification process is an excellent opportunity to become a part of a youth club that has a desire to truly develop soccer players,” said OCYS Technical Director Greg Brick. “Combining our views on player development with league platforms who share the same desire makes for a perfect club environment.”

The illustrious FPL began in 2011 as a part of US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues, and is comprised of eleven premier clubs throughout the State of Florida.

The coaching staff for next year’s campaign is currently being finalized and will be announced shortly. OCYS teams saw much success on the field this year, and the club has been working hard to assemble a top notch coaching staff to build on those achievements.

- US Development Academy is a league for boys born in the year 2000 and earlier.  There are three age levels:  U13/14, U15/16, U17/18. 

- FPL accommodates both boys and girls U13 through U18.  

2.  Why hold Identification separately from the academy tryouts?

Holding identification for FPL and Development Academy the week prior to Academy tryouts allows OCYS the opportunity to evaluate elite players in a smaller and more controlled environment.

3. What if my child is not placed on a team during the FPL and DA identification?

We will be evaluating children for our Academy teams the following week, and you would simply need to register for and attend those tryouts.  

4.  Are teams selected beforehand, or is this a true identification?

Teams have not been selected ahead of time, and we will evaluate each participant based on their performance during this time.  We recommend that everyone comes fully rested and ready to put their best foot forward.  

5.  Who will be coaching these teams?

Our coaching staff will be announced on OrlandoCityYouth.org on Monday, May 20th.  We are unable to make announcements until the completion of State Cup.

The Recreational playoffs were held this past weekend and featured 16 OCYS teams in the semi-finals. Out of the 16 teams, four advanced into the finals and the U13 boys & U16/17 boys finished as champions.

“I’m so proud of the performances from all of our teams this season,” said Recreational Director Brian Pederson. “Our Recreational players, coaches and team managers have worked extremely hard all year and exemplify the OCYS philosophy in many ways.”

Each camp will last one week and is based in numerous different locations throughout Orlando, including Central Winds, Hancock Park and more, reducing travel time for prospective campers. Orlando City Midfielder James O’Connor is the Managing Director/Founder of PSS, and has partnered with Orlando City with the sole intention of helping kids improve.

O’Connor and his team have created a training program designed to develop technique and skills. His training program is for players age five to 14 and is geared toward teaching the game of soccer. The campers will be coached by Orlando City Pro and U23 players, OCYS Academy Coaches, college players and proven camp coaches. Additional benefits include pro player appearances, a complimentary camper kit, and a ticket to an Orlando City SC game at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
